The ideal candidate is curious, self-driven, organized, and motivated to work on battery electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel vehicles. The successful candidate will develop test methods to satisfy truck division test requests, conduct tests on fully assembled vehicles, and become an expert on PACCAR’s current and next-generation alternative powertrains. Familiarity with powertrain components such as electric motors, transmissions, eAxles, hydrogen fuel cells, and battery systems is desired. Division Information The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Job Functions / Responsibilities

Research, understand, and stay up to date with PACCAR vehicle architectures, software releases and upcoming programs.

Work closely with various PACCAR divisions and design engineers to develop project budgets and testing requirements.

Conduct tests for items identified as risks in program Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and Design Verification Plans.

Responsible for safe working practices on and around high voltage vehicles.

Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with truck divisions.

Specifies instrumentation equipment, vehicles, loading configurations, software versions, and data collection strategies for assigned testing.

Participates in hands on set up of tests, vehicle upfits, software/hardware updates, data collection and analysis.

Writes test reports w/ detailed analysis of test results and findings.

Presents results of testing or investigative projects to management personnel.

Participate in offsite testing or truck support when required.

Off-site testing can be up to 13% travel.

Qualifications

Highly self-motivated, accountable, and driven to produce results.

Interest in working hands on and solving issues on test vehicles.

Interest in battery electric vehicles systems.

Interest in automotive, and familiarity with vehicle powertrain components.

1+ Years of automotive engineering experience desired.

Experience with class 8 vehicles preferred.

Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively.

Powertrain hardware and software testing experience a plus.

Experience with CAN based control systems and diagnostic tools desired.

A strong desire to improve processes through implementation of quality practices.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline required.
