Medical Records Technician

Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Medical Records Technician in Olympia, Washington. This role is within the healthcare industry where you will be tasked with maintaining and updating patient records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and liaising with medical staff to ensure accurate record keeping.Responsibilities: Accurately process and upload received patient information into the system from various platforms. Ensure patient records are complete and up-to-date by adding notes from medical staff and other necessary patient history. Conduct daily audits and census reports to ensure all patient charts are in compliance. Verify patient insurance details and collect basic referral information. Handle inbound and outbound calls while maintaining patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with the unit clerk to conduct audits upon patient check-in and check-out. Maintain patient charts, including cleaning up and closing out records for referrals, pharmacy, or documentation of patient history. Use the online reporting system to demonstrate compliance and document chart information. Ensure all medical charting is complete, including verifying all necessary signatures are present and following up on any incomplete items. Use Office and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to manage and update patient records. Requirements Minimum of one year experience in a similar role Proficiency in answering inbound calls Experience with auditing processes and procedures Ability to produce and interpret charts and graphs Strong understanding of compliance regulations within healthcare Ability to check patient details accurately Experience with managing inpatient records Knowledge of patient eligibility criteria and procedures Proficiency in insurance verifications Proficient use of Office Suite Experience in handling medical charts Ability to accurately capture patient demographic information Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, particularly the Patient Privacy Rule Experience with patient discharge procedures Proficiency in managing patient records Experience with both inbound and outbound calls Proficiency in using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) software TalentMatch® Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
