Microsoft’s Democracy Forward team works globally to safeguard open and secure democratic processes, promote a healthy information ecosystem, and advance corporate civic responsibility. Democracy Forward is part of Microsoft’s Technology for Fundamental Rights (TFR) team.  Democracy Forward is seeking a Senior Program Manager, Information Literacy to lead the team’s projects, programs and partnerships that support information literacy with a focus on building public awareness of, and resilience to, deceptive AI. This experienced Senior Program Manager will have robust communication skills, industry experience and be able to develop and implement corporate strategies and work collaboratively across internal Microsoft and external stakeholders.Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Develops strategy and executes information literacy and societal resilience programs, with a focus on increasing public awareness of deceptive uses of AI and building resilience throughincreased understanding of tactics and availablemitigation strategies and tools.

Defines and tracks the success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., quality, adoption, usage, impact, effectiveness) for information literacy and societal resilience program.

Subject Matter Expertise and Influence

Shares and exchanges ideas with key influencers to advance Microsoft's information literacy and societal resilience goals.

Develops and implements highly impactful solutions for advancing Microsoft information literacy and societal resilience goals while managing risks and consequences.

  Representing Microsoft

Communicates Microsoft’s perspective on key strategic issues related to information literacy and garners the support of external and internal stakeholders to contribute to the advancement of Microsoft’s information literacy agenda.

Manages and coordinates internal/external events, including developing content, drafting materials, and driving social media engagement.

Collaborates with internal teams to ensure there is communications strategy in place.

Participates in large internal and external events to communicate information on Microsoft technology for fundamental rights programs

External Relationships

Identifies and develops strategic partnerships with civil society, advocacy, community-based, and related groups to advance information literacy and societal resilience programs.

Establishes relationships with key governmental and civil society stakeholders (e.g., peer and industry organizations, think tanks, NGOs, academics, businesses, community leaders) implements outreach strategies, and positions these partners as advocates for Microsoft's policy, political, and business priorities.

QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years’ experience in program management, public awareness campaigning, information literacy, corporate affairs, emerging technology (including generative AI) or related area

OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

8+ years experience in program management, public awareness campaigning, information literacy, corporate affairs, emerging technology (including generative AI) or related area.

2+ years experience managing community engagement, public awareness, literacy or related program.

2+ years experience working on societal issues related to technology, including generative AI.

2+ years experience working in or with a large, matrixed organization.

Business Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
