We are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to lead with innovation, as highlighted by bringing the Game Pass subscription to PC, bringing Xbox to new devices with Cloud Gaming, and our recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard King creating exciting new possibilities for players.  The Xbox Experiences and Platforms team is home to the engineering work that makes this vision possible, building the developer tools and services that enable game creators to craft incredible experiences, the commerce systems that connect publishers with their audience and help gamers engage with their next favorite games, the platforms on which those games play and the experiences that turn every screen into an Xbox.  Our Experiences Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build future shared Xbox experiences across PCs, Consoles, Handhelds, Mobile devices, Smart TVs, and Web browsers. These experiences range from storefronts and content discovery to gaming community and cloud gaming features. In your role you will work alongside a diverse team of engineers, Program Managers, and designers to create technologies that empower team Xbox to delight gamers no matter where they play.     You will be collaborating on code bases that involve web and native code to create new ecosystem features and ship new experiences directly to gamers. Working with other developers on the team, your contribution will help drive new requirements and practices into the platform. You’ll also seek to identify and understand the challenges we face in building these scalable experiences and continually improve the capabilities of our ecosystem of devices.    Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Leading their feature team in researching and deploying an enhanced storefront experience, drawing from successful console strategies.

Mentoring developers, aiding in their feature development, and advancing their technical skills. 

Contributing to the technical improvements of the Xbox experiences, emphasizing performance and quality.  

Providing strategic insights and planning for the integration of future gaming platform, aimed at unifying the Web UX/experience platform.    

This role is pivotal in driving these initiatives forward, ensuring our storefront not only meets but also exceeds the progressive expectations of our gaming community.  Other

QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

OR equivalent experience.

4+ years of professional software development experience building end-user applications.

1+ years experience as a technical leader, driving design and architecture across the product codebase.   

Experience building React or React Native applications.

  

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

Experience shipping web applications using React JS and Typescript .

Experience shipping cross-platform applications using React JS and Typescript.

Understanding of modern web app development against cloud service dependencies.

Understanding of storefronts, commerce, advertising systems, and ML recommendations and content discovery systems.

Technical knowledge and understanding of challenges related to the gaming space, including but not limited to responsive UX design across device form factors, navigational input including gamepad, touch, and mouse/keyboard.   

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
