Your Role.
The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our teaching team! Teachers are responsible for using a classical Christian education model to teach students, develop virtue, and help each student grow into the individual God intends. Lessons are carefully planned to inspire and motivate students and to support them in reaching the learning outcomes. The individual in this role teaches Lower School art classes using a Christian classical educational model. The teacher instructs in the elements of art and techniques of the various media including painting, print making, drawing, and other art medium. Additionally, this individual also teaches and approaches daily activities from a Christian Worldview.
We are seeking an individual who will:
Approach classroom instruction and student interactions from a Christian Worldview
Collaborate with grade-level teams and department members to plan and implement the school’s classical curriculum.
Plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices, set grade-level curriculum and school curriculum guidelines for art education.
Design and present individual lesson plans in art using a variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of a variety of learners.
Prepare materials for lessons, projects, assignments, and tests; evaluate, correct and grade student performance.
Prepare and display student artwork in school hallways throughout the school year.
Organize, mount and hang student artwork for end-of-the-year all school Art Show
Communicate with parents in regular posts about students’ learning with photos and class happenings.
Attend school events outside regular school hours including curriculum night, open houses, drama performances and professional development sessions.
Build partnership with parents through proactive communication, attendance, and execution of events such as the Evening of Artists that may occur outside school hours.
Create a predictable and supportive classroom environment.
Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
Prepare daily and weekly lesson plans to help students meet learning goals.
Track student progress by maintaining required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records and communicate with homeroom teachers.
Inventory curriculum and supplies and manage the art budget under the oversight of the supervisor requisitioning supplies as needed and approved.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education:
Bachelors degree required.
A degree in art education also preferred.
Teaching credential preferred.
Experience working with Lower School students preferred.
Familiarity with classical methodology and Christian Worldview integration preferred.
Currently held CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date.
