Position Description
This is a part-time position with Cedars Unitarian Universalist Church, a liberal religious community (501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization), based on Bainbridge Island. We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Assistant to assist our church volunteers with childcare activities for crawlers through kindergarten on Sunday mornings. Compensation is negotiable and will be dependent on qualifications and experience. Compensation is expected to be approximately $20/hour for 2 hours/week. Extended hours on Sundays when there are events following the service and additional hours available for on-call evening childcare during congregational events or other activities as your schedule allows.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide attentive care for infants, toddlers, and young children, supporting their safety and developmental needs.
Provide childcare activities and manage the space.
Foster a welcoming and stimulating environment that supports children’s growth and well-being.
Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of rooms
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, with familiarity across both age groups.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to changing needs.
Background check clearance and CPR/First Aid certification required.
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience in a similar setting.
Understanding of early childhood development and educational best practices.
Hours: Sundays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am
