The Enterprise Data Architect leads and manages the design and implementation of data models for enterprise-level applications and systems. They also work with other teams and departments to design, implement and manage data governance processes and strategies. They oversee the development of data catalogues and business glossaries. They act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies and data processing best practices within the firm.

This position is open to all Perkins Coie U. S. Offices (with the exception of Anchorage & New York City).

Primary Job Requirements:
  • Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Outline best practices and establish standards for data strategy, data lifecycle, data ownership, data definition, and data classification.
  • Provide technical expertise and leaderships for data migration and integration projects.
  • Ensure that data strategies and architectures comply with policy, regulations, and governing laws.
  • Oversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality and process consistency.
  • Address data-related problems related to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integration.
  • Act as a leader and advocate of data management, including coaching, training, and career development to staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management and across administrative groups. Communicates clearly; relates well to people, inside and outside the organization.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture, web services, application programming interfaces, enterprise data management, enterprise data operations, data hubs, data security, applications development, and cloud-based architectures
  • Hands-on experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
  • Direct experience in implementing enterprise data management processes, procedures, and decision support.
  • Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, and report design.

Specific Skills Preferred:
Working knowledge of designing Power BI reports and administering the Power BI Service. Holds Microsoft data-focused certifications, such as 70-761 Querying Data with Transact-SQL, 70-778 Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Microsoft Power BI, and 70-767 Implementing a Data Warehouse Using SQL. Working knowledge of IBM Cognos. Working expertise with law firm practice management systems (i.e. Elite 3E, Aderant Expert, Rippe Kingston).

Education & Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline. Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirements. Five or more years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies.
