TO CREATE LESSON PLANS, OBSERVE EACH CHILD, CULTIVATE THEIR INTERESTS IN EDUCATION AND BE THEIR DEDICATED GUIDE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT.

You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full Montessori teaching plan according to the school’s requirements.

It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop their personalities and skills.

Responsibilities:

Present lessons in a comprehensive manner;

Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning;

Create and distribute educational content (notes, summaries, assignments etc.);

Assess and record students’ progress and provide feedback;

Maintain a tidy and orderly OUTDOORS classroom;

Dedicate half the day to the childrens' exercise in nature - hiking, exploring, looking at plants, picking ripe berries (when in season), running across the parks and along the trails;

Collaborate with the Director (via Zoom, etc), other teachers (when applicable), parents, and participate in regular meetings;

Plan and execute educational outdoor activities and events;

Give parent-child tours Tuesdays & Thursdays (when booked) of the forest and park, assess and evaluate good-forest school-fit families to recommend to the Director;

Daily (school days) Zoom conference debrief with the director (remote) about the day, behaviors, concerns, comments, questions, etc.

Skills:

Montessori Certification

Proven experience as a teacher (2 years preferred);

Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures;

Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills;

Well-organized and committed;

Creative and energetic;

Strong moral values and discipline;

CPR and First-Aid training up to date;

Background check through MERIT;

STARS classes compliant (Director will send links to complete the classes and get the certificates, if hired);

TB test negative and current;

Bloodborne pathogens, HIV /AID training certified and current;

food handlers card current;

Driver's license valid.

Job Type: Part-time initially, as we grow in enrollments - then Full-time.

Benefits:

TBD (full time employees only)

Schedule:

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:30am - 1:30pm;

Available to include other days of the week as enrollments increase, towards Monday to Friday 9:30am - 1:30pm; possible future 9:30am - 3:30pm hours (TBD).
