Our Nursery Lead will support our youngest community members on Sunday mornings while their parents participate in worship.
Schedule and Compensation:
-5 hours per week, $20-22 per hour, depending on experience
-Sundays required in-person from 9:30 am-12:30 pm and one Sunday per month 9:30 am - 2 pm (with a lunch break)
-Schedule negotiable for other hours, work from home or church
-Part-time, non-exempt
Reports to: Director of Faith Formation
Position Purpose:
Supports families at Saltwater Unitarian Universalist Church through providing childcare for Sunday mornings.
Main Duties:
-Provide childcare on Sunday mornings for children ages 0-3 years in the church nursery with an additional volunteer. If there are no nursery age children on a Sunday, provide childcare support to volunteers for preschool or early elementary ages.
-Caregiving may include holding, rocking, picking-up, carrying and playing with children at their level, which may include sitting/movement on the floor
-Create a fun and safe environment for children to play and connect.
-Gather supplies for activities on Sunday mornings.
-Ensure classrooms opened up and closed out according to procedure guidelines for Sunday morning programming.
-Have a warm, supportive attitude towards children, and use positive approaches to behavior.
-Participate in once a month check-in with the Director of Faith Formation
Additional Duties:
-Assist with materials and organization of childcare rooms
-Additional hours possible for providing childcare for events outside of Sunday morning, depending on availability. Same hourly rate.
Skills Needed:
-Childcare experience
-Care and respect for children
-Good verbal and written communication skills
-Flexibility with weekly tasks
-Organized, responsible, and punctual
-Able to lift 35 lbs.
-Certified in CPR and First Aid
-Approachable and welcoming to other staff, volunteers, parents, and visitors of all backgrounds.
