Urban Nature Preschool Lead Teacher Job Description

As a Lead Teacher, you will be the most senior educator for your class, you will work closely with the director and fellow teachers.

Duties will include:

Developing and implement developmentally appropriate emergent preschool curriculum in conjunction with other members of the teaching team using a Child Centered approach. As well as making sure to request and gather all necessary materials needed for curriculum implementation.

Conducting ongoing assessment of students to create individual goals and guide curriculum planning.

Post daily summary and pictures on Homeroom app to share with parents.

Partner with other members of the teaching team to incorporate an anti-bias curriculum, meeting the cultural, behavioral and physical needs of all students.

Creating an inviting and emotionally safe class environment. Being responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of all children. This includes helping children stay warm and dry in wet weather, managing risk in an outdoor setting, being aware of food allergies and dietary restrictions, assisting students with toileting needs and addressing student conflict.

Help train and mentor assistant teaching staff for your classroom in conjunction with the director and manage teaching team.

Conduct twice-yearly family-teacher conferences.

Setup and take down classroom daily.

Be the primary contact for families in your class. You will gracefully and professionally communicate with parents and caregivers, both formally and informally, individually and in groups.

Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of Urban Nature Preschool policies and procedures in conjunction with UNP director as appropriate.

Be an ambassador for Urban Nature Preschool when interacting with the public.

lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, including loading and unloading boxes of classroom materials, pulling a wagon, moving sticks and logs, and moving children.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Lead Teacher, reports to the Director.

Classroom location: Fauntleroy Schoolhouse, 9131 California Ave SW, Seattle WA 98136.

Weekly hours: Monday through Friday, 27 hours (25 hours plus 2 hour for planning) a week plus additional time for twice a year Parent/Teacher conferences and staff meetings. This is a Part time non-exempt position (25 hours per week plus 2 hours for planning) paid hourly. Pay is $25.00 an hour, additional increases after one year based on performance.

Benefits:

Paid Holidays (9 total) for employees working 20 hours or more Monday through Friday.

Vacation Pay accrued at the rate of .025 per hour worked after 90 days of employment.

Sick Pay accrued at the rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked after 90 days of employment.

Retirement Plan after one year of employment.
