Now Hiring: In-person instructor for upper level English, History, and lower-level Math and Study Skills in the Sammamish/Issaquah area. Tutoring schedules are consistent (same day/time every week), and we schedule students based on your availability, typically in the after-school hours through the evening and possibly weekends if interested.

Training is provided from your very first day and throughout the year to ensure you feel at your most confident.
Your schedule must be consistent, but your openings are your choice. Work around substitute teaching, grad school, or other commitments. Hours may range from 12 to 25 hours per week, depending on the range of subjects you can support.
Teacher/Student ratio is 1-to-1, allowing you the chance to truly get to know your students and help them thrive at school or via an Academy middle/high school accredited course.
Your time is respected! Paid training, paid drive time between lessons, paid professional development, and a supportive office staff to make sure you have the materials and information you need to shine (and help your students shine).
Warm work environment, including quarterly care packages and paid professional development with your colleagues 8 times during the school year.
Work for a local and community-minded teacher-owned private education service that supports student-centered non-profits and programs from the Issaquah/Lake Washington and Snoqualmie Schools Foundations, plus wonderful resources like Hopelink and the Teen Café (Garage) in Issaquah.
Working Conditions
Hours and Schedule: Most families request lessons in the Monday through Thursday range, 3:00 pm until 8:00pm or a weekend day. We ask all applicants to have afternoon/evening availability and at least 15 hours they can dedicate to Academy students per week (up to as many as 25-30 hours/week). Students keep the same day/time every week.
Locations: Lessons are IN PERSON, conducted at the Pacific Learning Academy office, local libraries, and student homes nearby.
Necessary travel: Instructors drive between some lessons (paid time) and you will need a reliable car for in-person lessons. You will need reliable internet and a computer set up that allows for Zoom lessons for occasional online lessons (the majority of your hours will be in-person).
Job Duration: (Paid) training begins immediately upon hire and position commitment is until the end of the school year (mid-June), but we hope you'll stay much longer!
Requirements
4-year /bachelor's degree required (any subject)
Fully vaccinated/boosted against Covid-19
Must be within an easy (for you) driving distance of Sammamish, WA
Great rapport with teens and a high level of proficiency in your subject areas to explain and reignite interest
Commitment through the complete school year
