We are looking for a talented, creative, resourceful Optomechanical Design Engineer to join our team to work on a variety of projects. If you are interested to apply your knowledge and talent in the unique field of ophthalmic optics, this position may be for you.

DESCRIPTION:

Provide optical solutions and designs for innovative new devices. Direct involvement for new product design and development. Support engineering and manufacturing with optical design information as needed. May be assigned to assist engineering and manufacturing teams to identify and implement manufacturing process controls, improve production flow, tooling, manufacturing methods, and production equipment related to optics manufacturing and assembly.

SKILLS – EXPERIENCE:

BS in Engineering, Physics or Optical Sciences

5 years’ experience in product development and manufacturing environment, optics manufacturing preferred.

Familiar with Zemax or other optical design software.

Familiar with optical inspection techniques: aspheric profile measurement, interferometry, scratch & dig specifications.

Familiar with optical materials and coatings

Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor.

Familiar with standard material processes and assembly techniques.

Familiar with production automation, CNC milling, CNC lathe, forming, tumbling, molding, painting, grinding, and polishing.

Experience with standard office personal computer applications. (MS Office)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED:

Familiar with optics of the eye.

Familiar with ophthalmic imaging systems.

Familiar with processes related to optics manufacturing such as grinding, polishing, surface measurement and microscopic inspection.

Medical device, FDA, MDR, and quality system, ISO 13485 industry regulated experience.

Experience applying statistical tools for process control.

MS Word, Excel, Visual Basic CNC programming (G & M code)
