Zipper Geo Associates, LLC (ZGA) has an opportunity for a full-time Staff Geologist with 2 to 4 years of professional experience in the geotechnical industry to join our Lynnwood, Washington office. This position is full-time non-exempt. ZGA provides geotechnical engineering and environmental consulting services throughout the Pacific Northwest. Job Description
- Geotechnical construction observation and field testing;
- Preparation of daily field reports detailing construction observation and field testing;
- Geotechnical laboratory index and construction support testing (moisture content, grainsize analysis, Atterberg limits, proctors);
- Subsurface exploration oversight and logging borings/test pits/subsurface explorations;
- Site reconnaissance and field mapping;
- Drafting including exploration plans and geologic cross-sections; and
- Preparing written descriptions of site conditions, geology, and other information for incorporation into technical reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience related to the job description;
- AutoCAD or GIS software experience;
- Geologist in Training (GIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of the date of hire; and,
- Soils laboratory testing experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. degree in geology;
- Capable of outdoor physical activity, lifting up to 50 pounds for extended periods (nuclear densometer testing of structural backfill soils on construction sites);
- A dependable personal vehicle (regular local travel for field work is required);
- Valid U.S. driver’s license; and,
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
