Define new language capabilities and develop innovative language frameworks, including transpilers to other programming languages

Lead the evolution of the tools and technologies that empower our store builders

Take full ownership of challenging technical problems and collaborate cross-functionally with engineers to implement high-quality, customer-focused solutions

Communicate requirements, negotiate priorities, and clarify success criteria for technical projects

Participate in peer code reviews and provide valuable, actionable feedback to improve engineering quality

Facilitate productive discussions, ask insightful questions, and provide well-reasoned recommendations to identify risks and align diverse stakeholders

Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Leverage expertise in areas like distributed systems, compilers, and end-to-end design to shape the future of Amazon's retail experiences

Thrive in a highly autonomous, visible role with ample opportunities for growth within a talented, collaborative engineering team

A day in the lifeThis is a wide-ranging role that involves partnering closely with other technical leaders, engaging with store builders and influencing program leaders. It requires leading execution and delivery by a specialized team that is at the center of Amazon’s next-generation architecture. One day you may be driving a capability design, and another you may be leading delivery for a complex project, or participating in how to improve the team processes. Next, you may be plugged into an important operational issue that is impacting the health of the Store, influencing your team to make the best decision for the customer in the moment.About the teamThis team builds authoring tools and languages used by store builders to create shopping experiences for customers on Amazon’s online stores.We are open to hiring candidates to work on the following location: Seattle, WA, USABasic Qualifications

2+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience

1+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience

Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react

Preferred Qualifications

1+ years of agile software development methodology experience

Experience with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node

The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market.
