About the role - Manager, Correspondence
The Manager will lead a small team responsible for correspondence. This includes ensuring day-to-day excellence in all written correspondence from the Principal and ensuring the correspondence function at (the) firm effectively advances the Principal€™s and organization€™s impact in the world.
Over time the Manager, Correspondence will build out correspondence support and systems that can be used by all staff in pursuit of impact at scale.
The Manager, Correspondence, and their team will support the Principal with a broad range of correspondence priorities and projects.
The Manager, Correspondence will gain and then have a thorough understanding of the Principal€™s writing style, goals, and work, and will be able to anticipate responses in personal and business communications.
The Manager, Correspondence, and their team will collaborate with colleagues across the firm to source information, gather stakeholder input, and finalize drafts for the Principal.
The Manager, Correspondence will oversee the execution of the strategic plan for correspondence, including overseeing the management and continuous improvement of systems and processes that take into account both the Principal€™s and staff€™s needs.
Your responsibilities will include :
Work with colleagues across the organization to ensure correspondence is utilized as a strategic tool to advance the Principal€™s and firms€™ goals for impact at scale.
Be the final decision-maker on written correspondence recommendations to the Principal.
Manage two team members, including partnering with them in goal setting, performance review, and professional development.
Oversee a small team that will track and evaluate requests, consult with internal and external stakeholders and develop drafts for the Principal, including, but not limited to : Invitation responses Emails and lettersCondolence and thank you notesRequests for resources
Continually assess correspondence on behalf of the Principal to forecast needs and proactively produce drafts.
Lead operations of the correspondence strategy, including implementing process improvements and building correspondence resources for all staff over time.
Assist with creation, management, and distribution of special projects as needed (including, but not limited to : Holiday card, Annual Letter, gifts, and commemorative items).

This position does not involve media, which is handled by the communications team.

What you€™ll need :
8+ years of overall professional experience.With this being such a unique role, we are somewhat background agnostic and are excited by candidates who have managed communications on behalf of a fast-paced executive in the past, possibly in a political or corporate environment.
3+ years of management experience.
The ability to assert influence in ensuring deadlines are met, and leadership stays on track to critical deliverables or communication timelines.
The ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling language for multiple audiences.
An awareness of cultural trends; you are a bit of a news junkie.
Impeccable organization € You are highly detail-oriented, and someone who gets a real sense of satisfaction from producing polished work and managing smooth and orderly processes.
You can practice discretion and have the ability to maintain confidentiality as needed.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary for this position starts at $135,000.
While this role is based in Seattle, we are open to this position starting remotely and would not expect anyone to relocate until it was safe to do so.

The overall evaluation process will look to follow this anticipated timeline :
Early September : Phone interview with team.
Early September : Finalist candidates will be asked to complete a timed trial assignment.
Late September : € Finalists will participate in a multi-team member group interview day via video conference. (due to COVID-19, we will be conducting all interviews remotely for the near future).
Finalist candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation including criminal, public records, and credit checks which will happy at this point. .
Early October : Offer extended.
