AWS Field Experiences (AFX) team is looking for you!As an Applied Scientist at AFX, you will be at the forefront of inventing AI-driven software tools that empower our field teams to win opportunities and generate revenue for AWS. Drawing your knowledge of large language models and other deep learning architectures, you'll develop novel approaches to automate and enhance complex sales workflows. You will work with a team of passionate scientists and machine learning engineers to design, develop, and improve generative AI and traditional ML models. You will collaborate with multiple product and software engineering teams on building those models into live software products and features.Key job responsibilities

Devise novel ways to build and use AI inside applications.

Invent algorithms for processing big structured and unstructured data sets and extract deep insights from them.

Lead and mentor other scientists

Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver intelligent, feature-rich software.

Build your models and innovative solutions into intelligent products that deliver for our customers

PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience

3+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience

Experience programming in Java, C, Python or related language

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts and solutions to all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of industry or academic research experience

Experience or project work building applications with LLMs and related tools and frameworks (Amazon Bedrock or OpenAI API, Langchain, AutoGen, CrewAI, etc.)

The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Location: Seattle, Washington U.S. Citizenship Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor\'s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Health and Safety, Science, Engineering, or related field. Requires minimum of five (5) years of Industrial Hygiene experience. 10+ years of experience in environmental and/or geotechnical sampling, and/or removal oversight. Demonstrable experience in bio-safety, radioactive materials management, field sampling and analysis, decontamination and/or mitigation methods, emergency preparedness, radiation dose assessment and management, and/or toxicology. Demonstrable expertise and experience with OSHA, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) regulations and sampling techniques. Experience performing site assessments and collecting multimedia samples. Experience in analytical method selection and data management and interpretation. Exposure to various technical and scientific procedures Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (field equipment, PPE, etc.) Experience in preparing planning documents to methodically perform field investigations, data reporting, technical report preparation. Strong organization and communication skills. Attention to detail and self-starter. Ability to be flexible and adaptable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
