About the RoleDocstore team's mission is to develop and support the database platform storing critical operational data at Uber. Team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with good systems knowledge, who would help us to ensure that the database systems run reliably and are able to scale with the growth in business.What the Candidate Will DoOwn backend systems and other infrastructure components necessary to deploy and run databases at scaleWrite code for production automation to help manage complex database deploymentsDevelop and maintain SLO measurement and accounting tools and processesDevelop capacity plans, debug production issues and work on improving performance and efficiency throughout the stackCollaborate with others, both from Core Storage and from application engineering teams, to ensure that the infrastructure we are building works seamlessly and best serves application engineers.Share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for database platform incidentsBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.).Production experience in operating large scale storage deployments (for example MySQL, Kafka, Cassandra)Experience coding with one of Go, C, Java or PythonPreferred Qualifications5+ years of experience in configuring and operating storage / database systemsExperience with workflow orchestration systems (Cadence, AWS SWF) is a big plusExperience with MyRocks storage engine is a big plusExperience in development / operating of control planes and orchestration platformsExperience analyzing, monitoring, and troubleshooting large-scale, high-traffic distributed systemsExpertise with optimizing, and debugging Linux installationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents.For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
