DescriptionIndustrial Design Implementation Engineering (IDIE) is seeking an experienced Sr. Architectural Designer to join the Design Engineering team. Our team works on pilot building projects for Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh Fulfillment and Distribution Centers. We also provide support for existing network grocery projects. This individual will be responsible for creating and maintaining designs for buildings under the above business lines. This includes end to end design support for buildings from concept to execution, engineering existing sites for value and efficiency, and creating and maintaining drawing standards for multiple business lines. Drawings will require a high level of detail using various CAD programs. A successful candidate will be able to collaborate with internal and external teams to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions with ambiguous guidelines. They will also be able work on multiple projects with various timelines while influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.Key job responsibilitiesComplete schematic designs for complex projects.Partner with internal and external teams to streamline site layouts for value and efficiency.Create design solutions that can scale and execute solutions with clear communication and documentation.Maintain standards for multiple business lines, and create them for new building types.Create drawings with a high level of detail using various CAD programs as tools to communicate with internal and external teams.Driving programmatic roll-outs for key initiativesA day in the lifeIf you thrive in an ever-changing environment, then we want to talk to you. In this role you must be able to act as the primary source of contact but still have the confidence to ask for help.About the teamThe Industrial Design team is a small but growing part of the larger Worldwide Grocery team responsible for designing the buildings that fulfill online grocery orders. We are an exciting, fast-moving business unit, where everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment. We balance two days working from home and three days a week collaborating in the office. The work is fast paced and exciting. Our goal is to get the highest quality food to our customers fast.Basic Qualifications Professional Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field 7+ years of experience in the job offered or related occupation of Design/Innovation, Research & Development, Manufacturing/Process/ Industrial Engineering, or related. Fulfillment/Distribution Center experience Ability to work within an ambiguous environment and manage change Experience in technical leadership for large-scale industrial projects. Proficiency using AutoCAD, Revit and Bluebeam required Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management and problem-solving skills Proven track record of owning projects from start to finish – self-starter and self-directed Proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an “all hands-on deck” approachPreferred Qualifications Master's Degree or other advanced degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering or related field Experience designing large industrial kitchen projects is preferred Experience with grocery logistics and related automation around the food handling space Experience in production kitchens logistics, including knowledge of hot/cold kitchen equipment and their vendors, food production flow, and food safety requirement knowledge. Proficiency in Smartsheet, BIM360, and other Autodesk related software Ability to work independently in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment Ability to manage, influence, negotiate, and communicate with external business partners and internal teams to meet organizational needs.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $175,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
