Description There's currently a position available through Robert Half at a growing Non-Profit firm for an efficient, accurate Staff Accountant. Based in the Seattle, Washington region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted short-term contract / contract opportunity where effort is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, play an active role in compliance, and review schedules for the reporting processes.What you get to do every single day

Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Participate in various department-wide initiatives

Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation Requirements - Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

Recent and relevant accounting experience

Self-starter and strong ethical standards

Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

QuickBooks experience

Expertise in Accounts Payable (AP)

Proficiency in bank reconciliations

Full Cycle Payroll experience

Experience with month end closings

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Efficient in ERP systems

Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

Spreadsheet and database capabilities

Strong attention to detail
