Position Description:
C&S Lead Grocery Buyer will work with the General Manager to achieve overall Store
goals related to consistent, high-quality, on-trend product selection, product/inventory quantities, appropriate product mix, and efficient systems for and management of inventory
and waste. The Lead Grocery Buyer reports to the GM, and oversees the Store Order Writers, and must be familiar with each individual store’s sales patterns and manage purchasing and
waste accordingly. Weekly scheduled meetings with the General Manager and Order Writers will occur to review inventory, waste, and sales. Monthly and/or Quarterly reviews of overall financials and key metrics will include C&S Lead Grocery Buyer, General Manager, and Owner.
Responsibilities:
-Work with General Manager and Order Writers on product mix and determine the introduction of specialty, local, unique, on-trend, and new products as well as category expansion by using KPIs
-Research and introduce new products and trends by analyzing industry and company data
-Manage the Order Writers day to day activities by communicating about the orders that need to get done and changes that need to take place to product mix and ordering cycles
-Track and analyze new and existing product movement, category performance, and waste
-Advise and inform orders in all categories at each store along with Order Writers
-Create ordering efficiencies and related systems, whether new or revising current
-Maintain and foster all Vendor Relationships to improve efficiency, identify seasonality and trends, secure discounts, promos, or other cost efficiencies
-Direct and support all Vendor communications, along w/ Order Writers, to ensure all orders are placed and received correctly, on time, and all issues are addressed appropriately and promptly (delivery issues, missing or damaged items, etc)
-Adhere to budgets and review sales/waste data in order to inform orders and product mix in line with company goals and key performance metrics
-Maintain and support inventory, waste, and loss procedures and tracking through POS and supplemental systems/processes
-Maintain and communicate regular schedule of delivery dates and keep Counter Teams prepared for deliveries, and ensure new product info is set up in the POS in advance
-Work with Order Writers and Store Lead to maintain thorough stocking and pricing procedures and ensure stocking standards are met consistently and efficiently
-Develop product knowledge resources for Team (FAQs, How-To’s, Pairings, etc)
-Provide superior customer service in every interaction (customers, vendors, among the team, everyone!), creating a positive experience all around
Qualities and Requirements:
-2+ years of Leadership experience that demonstrates time management, initiative, high level of responsibility either in Management, Assistant Management, or related role
-2+ years of experience in retail and/or food+beverage service industry operations, including purchasing/ordering and inventory systems
-Preferred leadership experience in grocery/specialty food retail
-Experience ordering across multiple platforms such as UNFI, Columbia, Choco, Toast, and other inventory tracking software designed to follow the sales history of a product and maintain inventory levels.
-Familiarity with sales data and financial reports as well as movement reports, comparative studies, waste reports, minimum movements, and other relevant analyses
-Must be self-motivated and take initiative to see what needs to be done and do it
-Strong time-management skills including specific tools used for that time management.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include daily communication with team members on multiple platforms
-Ability to see the “big picture” and create systems/efficiencies accordingly

-Must have current Food Handler’s Permit and MAST
-Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
