Blue Heron Community Co-op is a worker and community owned bakery and cafe that has been serving Olympia and beyond since 1977, specializing in healthy and alternative options for a variety of diets.
We are a local small business with a commitment to wholesome scratch-made food. We are looking to hire a part time cook to join our team and make breakfast and lunch items on the line. We have an open kitchen so great customer service skills are a must. This person also must be comfortable doing the following:
-Opening and closing the kitchen
-Prepping food for service
-Cooking quality product with aesthetic presentation
-Making soups, sandwiches, pizza and salads
-Able to multitask and handle rushes
-Keeping a tidy workspace
-Have a can-do attitude
-Work well solo and as a team member
We are looking for reliable and energetic self-starters with a strong work ethic. Prior food service experience is required, ideally line cooking or food prep. Sandwich making skills are also a plus. Since we are a co-op, any experience with collective management or decision making is also highly valued.
The position is paid by the hour plus tips and would be about 18 hours a week. The shifts will be: Saturday and Sunday 7AM -11:30AM, and Monday and Tuesday 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
