The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department is seeking a GIS Technician to join the development review and water resources group. This is a new position supporting the entire division, which also includes the capital group. Collectively, the division manages or monitors the water, sanitary sewer, surface water, stormwater, road, and non-motorized transportation networks throughout our jurisdiction. The City maintains a GIS-based representation of those networks accessible to both staff and the public and requires a dedicated technician to maintain, update and expand our electronic mapping capabilities and associated databases.
The ideal candidate:
Has experience in creating and maintaining GIS mapping products and their associated databases;
Has experience in using construction drawings and/or field data to identify and map utility infrastructure, specifically water, sanitary sewer, surface water, storm water and street utilities and facilities;
Is comfortable communicating with various stakeholders, supporting individual projects and the team as a whole; and
is willing to be flexible in their daily tasks.
