Under the direction of the District Dean of Business and Social Sciences and Social Services Behavioral Health (SSBH) Chair, the SSBH Program Specialist 2 is responsible for the operation and administrative duties for SSBH Program to ensure equitable access and success This includes, but not limited to, monitoring and reporting needs for the SSBH programs and serving as a liaison to program participants and community members regarding program admission and program policies, procedures and practices.
Often the first point of contact for prospective students, current students, and community partners, the Program Specialist 2 is culturally affirming and advances the institutions commitment to racial equity. As the Program Specialist, the successful candidate will provide effective case management to SSBH students to support their progress on their career pathway. This includes providing equitable access, referrals and support, and managing the data required for student progress and reporting. This position requires regular and consistent attendance.

Essential Functions
The Social Service Behavioral Health Program Specialist 2 will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
Program Liaison and Support:
Regularly maintain the accuracy and currency of accreditation and student data tracking systems for Social Service Behavioral Health (SSBH) programs.
Coordinate program-developed special projects that support equitable student access and progress.
Coordinate the daily office operations; and in absence of the Program Chair, oversee SSBH program activities.
Distribute and categorize mail.
Coordinate copying and printing requirements for the programs.
Order supplies, equipment, printing, and arrange for facility and equipment maintenance and repair contracts and services.
Monitor program budgets.
Conduct or respond to surveys and studies; compose narrative portions of program communications, as needed.
Work with SSBH Advisory Committee and employers to support chair in establishing and maintaining relationships.
Actively identify barriers associated with placing students for work-based learning experiences; work collaboratively to identify and implement solutions.
Student Support:
Develop, implement, and administer an equitable system for supporting prospective/new and current Social Service Behavioral Health students.
Demonstrate cultural humility and vulnerability in interactions (emails/post, phone, and in-person) with students and their families, as well as, employees and the community in order to advance an inclusive environment.
Serve as the SSBH Pathways student admission Point of Contact (POC), connecting student to their advisor and college resources for holistic student supports (PARC and other student support areas) in a manner that is culturally responsive.
Work with students identifying challenges in their programs and direct information to the Program Chairs and/or the Dean of Business and Social Science for follow-up.
Actively advocate for students in line with Pierce College’s commitment to equitable and antiracist supports and access to opportunity.
Outreach:
Seek opportunities to increase recruitment and equitable support of students from marginalized communities.
Provide administrative support in building and maintaining relationships with community partners.
Institutional and Program Core:
Actively support, engage in, and work to advance Pierce College's goals for equity and inclusion in order to provide access and support for our diverse community of learners.
Contribute to an engaged and supportive team with shared accountability for the equitable success of students and the programs.
Other duties as assigned to support the mission, goals, and objectives of the college.
Qualifications
Required Education:
The qualified candidate will have 1 or more of the following experiences and/or education:
Required Education:
An Associate degree or equivalent education and/or experience.
Applicable Coursework include:
Psychology | Human Services | Social Services | Behavioral Health or Related field
Education to Experience Equivalences:
Associate Degree = 2 years | Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years | Master’s Degree = 5 year
Required Experience:
Experience using Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Special Requirements:
The successful candidate must consent to and pass a criminal background check after a conditional offer of employment. Comply with background check requirement required of all Social Service Behavioral Health Program (e.g., Washington State Patrol and Portable Background Check).
Ability to travel occasionally between Pierce College campuses and/or work sites.

Terms of Employment:
This is a non-permanent, part-time (approximately 16 - 19 hours per week, not to exceed 69 hours per month), scheduled, classified appointment with Pierce College through June 30, 2025. The primary work location will be at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom campus. Occasional travel to Pierce College campuses or sites may occur. Work hours are typically between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekend work, and occasional travel as required. This position may be subject to reassignment between campuses or sites. This position requires regular and consistent attendance and may be eligible for occasional telework once the incumbent is established in the position.
Salary & Benefits:
The starting salary range of this position is $3,999.00$4,740.00 a month (dependent upon qualifications), with annual periodic increments up to $4,865.00 per month. However, your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. There is an outstanding benefits package which is worth an additional value equivalent to about 30% of your salary. This position is required to work indoors in an open office environment, which requires visual concentration on detail, dexterity, precision, and is subject to frequent noise and interruptions. This position operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
