Direct Support Professional w/ emphasis on Community Inclusion
Parkview (est. 1967) (501c3), has expanded their service model to include 1:1 Supported Living Services in south King County! We are excited to offer two rare part time position for one individual we serve. We are seeking a compassionate person who will work well with the team to create a safe, caring, happy, and healthy life for our special person. We do this by increasing her independence through activities of daily living, while expanding inclusive opportunities in the community. Who do we support?
A fun and active, ambulatory young woman who has been living in her own apartment with the supports from her staff and family for the past 13 years. Although she is non-speaking, she utilizes multiple modalities of communication to get her needs met. It is imperative you have a genuine likeable disposition and be flexible to meet the person’s needs. She is fully aware of who she is and is not easily manipulated. That said, she greatly values people who genuinely work to understand her, and as a result has developed life-long friendships with her care providers. She is very active and is involved in many fun activities & classes during the week including art, yoga, dance, swimming, working out, singing, and much more!

Parkview Supported Living Services has expanded to offer direct support services to people in their individual homes. Unlike traditional supported living agencies, Parkview is a person-first centered organization that provides a flexible service model to enable people with disabilities to design, plan, and self-direct their life. Position Particulars:
Permanent Part Time Position: 29 hours per week
(Weekend, day and overnight shifts available)
Compensation/wage: Starting rate: $23.05
Paid every two weeks
Primary Need: Direct care provider to a person with Angelman Syndrome. This position is a specifically designed for direct care of only one young adult in their apartment.
Location: South King County-Covington Training Requirements:
New employees will complete 75+ hours of paid training as directed by DSHS requirements. Additional Direct support staff will then be required to complete 12 hours of continuing education annually.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Personal Care: Person requires partial physical assistance of daily living skills—bathing, dressing, toileting, teeth brushing, grooming, etc.
Recognize and document and follow-up on the health needs of the client in a timely manner.
Household Tasks: Support person in her apartment to clean, organize spaces, laundry, etc.
Attend monthly team meetings.
Recreation and Entertainment: Support person’s continued participation in current activities and discover new interests and opportunities in her immediate and extended community.
Travel with person to social functions and activities.
Community Outings: swimming, working out at YMCA, choir, bike riding, attend church, movies in the park, arts & crafts projects, yoga in the park, coffee dates.
Utilize iPad and Software Applications for communication with client and staff.

Foster person’s continued contact with her friends and family and expand her inclusive community by beginning and maintaining personal and professional relationships.
Assist person to support personal needs on a day-to-day basis according to individual support plan. Documents (includes IISP, PBSP, DDA-ISP, IFP, Safety Reminders, Care Guide, etc. Don’t be overwhelmed we’ll teach you!)
Minimum Requirements:
Female: due to client preference and needs.
21 years of age and up.
High School Diploma or GED.
Three professional references.
Read, write, and speak fluently in English, American Sign Language a plus.
Reliable transportation, clean driving record, valid Washington State Driver’s License, and personal auto insurance.
Exemplify healthy habits for this person by remaining physically active. Able to easily walk long distances (2-4 miles), standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching crawling, able to push/lift/pull up to 50 lbs. (no exceptions).
Successfully pass a background check permitting unsupervised access to vulnerable adults.
Smoking is not allowed on the job sight. (This includes electronic cigarettes).

Preferred Background in fields related to childcare, education/special education, nursing, mental health/psychology, or other experiences working or volunteering with people with disabilities.
