POSITION: Facilities Janitor

Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Auburn, Washington

Department: Facilities

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting the maintenance team in primarily janitorial duties (80%) as well as facility maintenance and landscaping (20%). The Facilities Janitor performs and assists with tasks related to custodial maintenance, cleaning, and landscaping, but may also expand into other areas as requested by the department manager. The position requires a team player attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to details and excellent project coordination skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Routinely clean all bathrooms in 2 facilities on a weekly schedule as determined by the Facilities Manager.

Maintain cleanliness of buildings by emptying garbage and recycling containers, sweeping/mopping floors, vacuuming, cleaning windows, and cleaning surfaces.

Additional duties including, but are not limited to maintaining coffee stations, painting, stripping and waxing floors, bush and tree trimming, blowing parking lot of debris, and replenishing paper products throughout multiple buildings.

Assist with the maintenance of buildings and grounds as requested by the Facilities Manager.

Work cooperatively with others to report and solve problems. May recommend purchases, cost saving measures and assist with facility maintenance inventory.

REQUIRED ABILITY/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS TO:

Efficiently trouble shoot, diagnose and resolve problems.

Effectively multitask and work well with changing priorities and/or situations.

Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organization, project management, interpersonal and communication skills.

Comply with Federal Aviation Administration and customer quality standards as they relate to facility maintenance responsibilities.

Be a self-starter who can work well with people at all levels both inside and outside the facilities.

Proficiently use computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Maintain a valid Washington driver’s license.

Operate a variety of tools and equipment commonly used to support and maintain janitorial responsibilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience to demonstrate proficiency.

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

One (1) to three (3) years of progressive experience and responsibility in a janitorial position or comparable environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Routinely works in a combination shop and office environment.

Regularly works near shop equipment and exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise and vibration.

Works in outside weather conditions, including precarious places around the building as needed.

Flexibility required to work hours and occasional weekends outside the usual workweek as needed.

Required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, talk and hear. Also to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. Required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Close vision capability and ability to adjust focus required.

Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Starting Pay Range: $18.00-$20.00/hour

Overall Pay Range: $17.00-$22.00/hour

Schedule: 5:55AM-2:30PM (30 minute lunch)
