Housing in Exchange For Working with Horses! PT/FT
MUST HAVE CURRENT HORSE HANDLING EXPERIENCE! No exceptions! Part Time work, that can expand to FT. If you have another source of income, the Part Time may fit you. Otherwise we are offering the position as Full Time help that includes additional hours and some cash (amount depends on experience), together with the housing/utility exchange. Currently caring for 6 horses.
Housing costs are at an all-time high, and the value of the exchange alone is $2,800 per month. We offer a 1200 sq ft, complete 2bdrm apartment, with all utilities paid including WiFi. The apartment has its own large laundry/storage room with washer & dryer. Note: The apartment does not come furnished. Due to the high cost of living, the Part Time work is a total exchange – work for housing and utilities only. Both positions are 5 days a week, and able to provide coverage for the owner when gone (pre-arranged), Both Full & PT are paid extra for additional days worked. Days of the week work will be determined based on collective schedules, but at least one weekend day will be included in the 5 days.
These positions are only temporary for the duration we are here. We will be moving to another state in the near future. The farm is not listed yet so there is no set timeframe, but there would be at minimum, a 30 day notice or more provided. OR if desired, the position can be carried over to the new location if you’re up for a relocation.
Please note that the exchange value is based on single occupancy, but couples are allowed with a slight adjustment for the additional historic utility usage difference. This setup is not for young children or other pets. This is also not a home rental situation, it’s a work exchange, some restrictions apply. Sorry NO PETS.
We are a non-smoking home and facility.
Here are the MUST HAVE’s
Must have current horse handling experience. We have mature and young stallions and you need to understand horse behavior. They will test you.
Must have own transportation.
Must have secondary income in place for other living expenses, if working PT exchange.
Must be willing to have a drug test and background check.
Must have integrity and good work ethic… liars or thieves will not be tolerated. You can leave any drama behind too!
Work includes, but is not limited to:
2 times a day feedings
Feed and hay prepped in advance (measured/weighed)
Light groom at turn out
Some night checks (before bed time)
Stall & Barn cleaning /some paddock maintenance
Waters tub maintenance Barn / Paddock
Some fence line maintenance (weed eating)
