ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST / ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/BENEFITS

Cairncross & Hempelmann (“CH&”) is a full-service law firm in Seattle that advises our diverse client base in business, land use, real estate, litigation, and bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. We are looking for an Accounting Specialist with at least three years of relevant experience with a focus on accounts payable and benefits to join our dynamic accounting department. Our ideal candidate is professional, reliable, and detail-oriented and who enjoys working in a motivating, fast-paced environment! This is a full-time, non-exempt position, Monday through Friday from 8:30 – 5:00.

Main duties of this position include:

Processing benefit-related disbursements and maintain related records.

Processing expense reimbursements and vendor payments.

Developing and maintaining accounts payable reports and files.

Providing guidance, general information, proactive education, and training on policies and procedures.

Knowledgeable of compliance requirements for Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and Cafeteria Plan reimbursements.

Ability to maintain attention to detail and produce accurate work.

Ability to work in a high-demand, fast-paced environment and meet short deadlines.

Professional interaction with others in-person and through email and phone, using critical thinking and listening skills.

Must be able to spend long periods of time in a stationary position working at a computer workstation (sit/stand desk is available).

Proficient operation of office and computer equipment such as copiers, scanners, calculators, computers.

Ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Secondary Functions:

Attend staff, firm meetings, and firm events, as required.

Answer, screen, and respond to phone calls.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); undergraduate degree or some college is beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proven level of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365/2016, 3E, or other legal accounting software.

Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.

High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.

Excellent data entry skills.

Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.

Flexible with a willingness to learn.

Able to collaborate as part of a team, but also work independently.

Compensation range: $60,000 – $75,000 annually.
