The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $85,000–$95,000, though it is budgeted up to $100,000 based on experience.
About the Role:
The Student Accessibility and Accommodation (SAA) office is committed to ensuring equitable access to the university’s academic programs, resources, and activities for all students, regardless of disability. By upholding legal requirements and fostering an inclusive environment, SAA empowers students to leverage their strengths while developing practical strategies to navigate challenges.
The Director of SAA provides strategic leadership for the office, oversees compliance with accessibility laws, and champions a culture of inclusivity across campus. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, and Washington State Higher Education Disability Law. Additionally, the Director oversees a team of four staff members, providing leadership, professional development, and operational guidance. They also manage the SAA and Leslie Fund budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support student needs and program initiatives. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who is passionate about student success, experienced in accessibility services, and committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
What you will be doing:
Conduct intake interviews, review medical and psychological documentation, and determine eligibility for accommodations.
Partner with students to identify educational barriers, implement appropriate accommodations, and assess their effectiveness.
Collaborate with on- and off-campus professionals to provide comprehensive support services.
Communicate accommodation needs to faculty and staff while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
Serve as a resource for faculty, providing guidance and support in implementing accommodations.
Engage with prospective students and families to explain the accommodation process and available resources.
Ensure accessibility and accuracy of information across SAA’s website and publications.
Stay current on compliance regulations and legal developments related to disability accommodations.
Evaluate and refine policies and procedures to align with best practices and mitigate risks.
Lead student support initiatives, including the peer mentoring program and the SAA faculty advisory board.
Develop and implement student programming to address evolving needs.
Partner with Student Support Services and campus committees to enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
Supervise a team of four staff members and temporary personnel, providing leadership, professional development, and team coordination.
Manage the SAA and Leslie Fund budgets to ensure effective resource allocation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree or equivalent in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Disability Studies, or related field.
At least five years of experience in disability services, accessibility coordination, or a related field, assessing medical documentation and determining reasonable accommodations.
Strong knowledge of disability laws, including ADA, Section 504, and FERPA.
Current experience with technology resources, software and mobile applications that foster independence and self-efficacy
Current experience working with and customizing a disability services data base
