The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska supports seriously ill children and their families by providing housing, meals, and other essential support services at our facilities in Seattle, WA and Anchorage, AK. Each night we house 139 families, offering the comforts of home near the medical care their children need. Enabling families to stay close to their hospitalized child supports the health and well-being of the child and saves families millions of dollars in hotel and food costs each year. At the House, each of these families finds comfort, support, and hope as they navigate their child’s medical crisis. RMHC of Western Washington & Alaska is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

JOB SUMMARY

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska has an opportunity for the right candidate to build a successful mid-level donor program from our existing donor base and support an integral part of our fundraising strategy. In this role, you will partner with the Development Director, Strategic Initiatives to develop the strategy and plan for our mid-level donor program. You will then implement and grow all aspects of our mid-level donor program. RMHC defines mid-level donors as those giving between $1,000-$9,999 annually. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fundraising, a proven ability to cultivate and steward donor relationships, and the vision to drive growth and innovation within the program.

This is a full-time exempt position working 9-5:30 M-F and reports directly to the Director of Development – Strategic Initiatives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Partner with leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to identify, cultivate, and steward mid-level donors, aligning with organizational goals and priorities.

Donor Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with mid-level donors through personalized communication, stewardship activities, and engagement opportunities.

Retention & Growth: Implement strategies to retain and upgrade mid-level donors, analyzing donor data and trends to identify opportunities for increased giving and engagement.

Prospect Management: Work with the development team to establish a strong prospect research program to identify and qualify potential mid-level donors, leveraging data analytics and market insights to prioritize cultivation efforts.

Donor Communications: Develop communication strategies, key messaging, and written materials for outreach to mid-level donors, coordinating as needed with the Communications Manager and other Development Team members.

Strong Team Member: Serve as a key member of the Development team, sharing ideas, experiences, and best practices to collaborate on strategies, generate portfolio-specific deliverables (data queries, written/visual assets for communications, etc.), and maintain alignment with department and organizational goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the development team and other departments to integrate mid-level donor initiatives with overall fundraising efforts and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyze key performance metrics related to mid-level donor activity, providing regular reports and insights to inform decision-making and strategy refinement.

Staff and Volunteer Support: Provide support to staff and volunteers involved in mid-level donor cultivation and stewardship activities, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging trends in mid-level donor fundraising, proactively seeking opportunities to innovate and optimize program performance.

Representation: Serve as a key spokesperson for the mid-level donor program, representing the organization at events, meetings, and conferences to promote donor engagement and support.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising or related field, with a focus on mid-level donor cultivation and stewardship.

Proven track record of success in building and managing donor relationships, driving revenue growth, and achieving fundraising targets.

Strong experience with relational database software, preferably Raiser’s Edge (RE NXT).

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting, using insights to inform strategy and decision-making.

Commitment to the mission and values of the organization, with a passion for making a difference in the community.

Strong History –A Home Away from Home: RMHC of Western Washington and Alaska was established in 1983 with its first House opening in Seattle and serving 22 families. Today we have three facilities in Seattle, including 10 Bone Marrow Transplant Apartments with a total of 105 rooms. Our Anchorage House in Alaska has 34 rooms and is nestled on the 6th floor of the Alaska Native Medical Center’s patient housing. Patients include expectant mothers with high-risk pregnancies as well as pediatric patients and their families.
