Assistant Store Manager, Senior - Full-Time

Department: Retail Management

Reports to: Store Manager

Position Summary: The Assistant Store Manager, Senior (ASM SR, Full-Time 30+hrs). Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the ASM SR is responsible for ensuring the management of the store as well as providing excellent customer service. As a member of the management team, they will partner with and support the Store Manager in achieving the company's objectives and maintaining company standards all while motivating the team.

ASM SR will be responsible for opening and closing the store, leading and “owning” inventory, maintaining operational excellence in the store, leading and driving sales contests, and performing other duties in the absence of the Store Manager. They will supervise and motivate the Sales Team, Shift Leaders, and ASM2, inspiring the team to model Fran’s Customer Service Standards. ASMs will promote an engaging and positive work environment that fosters open communication, encourages teamwork, and inspires positivity.

ASM SR’s will understand and reflect the following competencies: instilling trust, collaborating, demonstrating self-awareness, communicating effectively, customer focus, leadership, directing work, decision quality, and managing conflict.

Essential Functions:

Models Fran’s Customer Service Standards with all guests.

Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and mission of Fran’s Chocolates.

Demonstrates critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and business acumen in their day-to-day actions in the store.

Inspire our customers with Fran’s Chocolates' unique product offerings through product knowledge, Fran’s Story & understanding the chocolate through tastings.

Highlight chocolate education in the store.

Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the team.

Anticipates and responds to customer and store needs.

Partner with SM re: recruiting & hiring including; interviewing, effective training, positively reinforcing successful performance, and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Provides feedback to upper management on new hire performance during shift.

Contributes to and leads a positive team environment and collaborates effectively with the different departments, including the Home Office, production, and other stores.

Executes consistent operational excellence:

Demonstrates the ability to operate the store efficiently and effectively, executing opening and closing procedures to company policy.

Partnering with SM on operations during scheduled shifts, including delivery, stock organization and monitoring store supply inventory.

Follows all cash management and cash register policies and ensures proper cash management practices are followed by the team.

Responsible for communicating daily the company/store objectives to store teams through a consistent structured communication process.

Partner with upper management in the training, communication, and continued awareness of all policies and procedures including safety and maintenance to ensure compliance and acceptable store operational results.

Drives sales and profitability through Sales Floor Manager leadership:

Utilizes company tools and works with customers to suggest add-ons to ensure store sales goals and ADT and goals are met.

Provide feedback to upper management on customer requests, reactions to merchandise, and store environment.

Act as Sales Floor Manager

Take pride in the presentation of each product in the store and to the customer.

Ensure that store is clean and organized. Maintain store operations and visual merchandising standards to ensure a ‘grand opening’ look and feel to our customers each day.

Understand customers’ needs to be able to make meaningful suggestions for their purchases.

Complete all required training modules and have a clear understanding of available tools and resources to enhance the customer experience.

Provide feedback to upper management on customer requests, reactions to products, and store environment.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

5 - 10+ years of people and process management with progressive responsibility in a retail/specialty food/restaurant/coffee service environment.

Demonstrate consistent selling behaviors that inspire our customers towards a greater connection with our chocolates & confections, and the ability to coach and train these behaviors in others.

Exhibits an attitude that is positive, can-do, and customer-first with all guests and with co-workers.

Ability to follow directions, delegate work & display a sense of urgency surrounding tasks.

Demonstrated ability to build working relationships with individuals of various ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities.

Ability and aptitude with Microsoft O365 and other technology necessary for successful day-to-day functioning

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Mental Requirements – Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to remain poised under all circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that creates confidence and trust.

Physical Requirements – long periods of standing, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, talking on the phone, working with office/computer equipment, attending quarterly team meetings, and talking to co-workers and to customers.
