Position is fulltime, but would consider part time for the right candidate
This position is an entry to mid-level analytical position. The chemist performs sample preparation as well as the analysis of environmental and food sample for heavy metals. Must have experience with ICP-MS. The chemist interprets and manages data using instrument software, Chemstation, and Excel, ensuring that data meets all established QA/QC criteria and is made available to the department Leads and manager within specified time frames
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Using established procedures, prepare, analyze and document sample analyses using ICP-MS,GC/FID, GC/MS, and other methodologies.
Familiarity with established procedures, for the preparation and documentation of samples
Perform and interpret required QA/QC procedures; recommend, perform and document corrective actions and possible
impacts to data quality.
Perform all functions in support of and in compliance with all state and federal employee regulations.
Regular attendance and punctuality
Perform routine maintenance, and consult with vendor technicians (support engineers) when appropriate
Utilize computer software to prioritize work, track samples, acquire data, perform calculations and statistical analysis, and store data to meet established deadlines.
Conduct review of analytical sample preparation data including: checks for completeness, calculation accuracy, data interpretation and data quality objective coherence. Provide all documentation for peer and scientific review of data in a timely manner
Troubleshoot instrument problems, perform routine maintenance, and consult with vendor technicians (support engineers) when appropriate
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess:
Experience with EPA Method 200.7 or experience with ICP-MS methods
Ability to problem solve
Complete work within time and quality constraints
Work independently following written or verbal instructions
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
Must have ICP-MS experience, be able to hit the ground running in regards to analyzing samples, and data processing
At least 1-2 year’s analytical experience, or combination, at company or equivalent experience elsewhere. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry is preferred.
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., hrs and schedule are negotiable
