The mission of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Department of Public Safety is to protect life and property, maintain order, investigate crimes, enforce all applicable laws and ordinances, protect natural resources, enforce Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Fishing, Hunting, and Forest codes, investigate violations, arrest and issue citations on violators within the boundaries of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Reservation and within the boundaries of the Point No Point Treaty Area.
The Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, originally known as the Nux Sklai Yem or The Strong People, are descendants of the Salish peoples with ancestral ties to the Kitsap Peninsula that date back at least 1,000 years. Many of the Port Gamble S’Klallam’s members—totaling over 1,400—live on the Tribe’s reservation, which is located on the northern tip of Kitsap County in Washington state, near the neighboring towns of Kingston, Poulsbo, Indianola, Hansville, Port Gamble, and Bainbridge Island.

The Restoration Project Manager (RPM) provides oversight and management of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe’s habitat restoration projects. The position works to restore habitats for fish, shellfish, and wildlife and improve the Tribe’s resilience to the effects of climate change. The RPM is responsible for managing large restoration project budgets in compliance with grant agreement contracts. The position manages consultant contracts for a range of services and coordinates with a variety of stakeholders and government agencies. The RPM supervises the Natural Resources Technician and manages consultant and grant contracts. The RPM collaborates with the tribal community and staff.
