About Us:
Hope Furnishings is the retail department of NW Furniture Bank. We are a nonprofit organization that works to help restore dignity, stability, and hope to people in our community by providing furniture and housewares to individuals and families in need. Our retail store Hope Furnishings, was created as a way to repurpose donated items that are not ideal for the needs of our furniture bank clients. We work to create a welcoming space that allows the broader community to interact with and learn about the mission of NWFB while shopping for new and gently used furniture and décor items.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Greet customers and help guide them through our ever-changing inventory.
Build rapport with customers through conversation and honest recommendations.
Help people understand the mission of NWFB and assist them in determining what aspect of the organization best serves their needs.
Understand and help maintain monthly sales goals.
Assist with loading furniture into customers’ vehicles.
Assist with staging and decorating the retail showroom.
Participate in the selection, research, and pricing of donated inventory.
Assist with photographing items and creating listings on OfferUp.
Communicate and coordinate with individuals from other NWFB departments as needed.
Accurately and securely handle cash and credit card payments.
Maintain a clean selling environment, including cleaning the restrooms and breakroom.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Desired Skills/Abilities:
Ability to interact compassionately and professionally with a diverse base of customers, donors, volunteers, NWFB clients, and other members of the community.
Desire to serve your community by contributing to and promoting the mission of NWFB.
Ability to multitask, work independently, and switch between tasks as-needed.
Experience in customer service, in-person preferred.
Ability to use a computer for basic office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and online research.
Experience with Salesforce or other similar software.
Experience with touch screen POS systems.
Adaptability, resourcefulness, and strong problem solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to consistently lift, move, and load items up to 50lbs.
Prolonged periods of time on your feet.
