We are a local award-winning residential remodeling and custom home builder who has been in business for over 30 years, looking for a dynamic Project Developer/Estimator to join our company located in Olympia.
Our ideal candidate is someone who possesses excellent communication skills with a range of personalities, strong computer skills and attention to detail to ensure consistent accuracy, ability to thrive in a team setting but can also work independently.
Overall Responsibilities:
Client Collaboration – Once the initial lead is received, engage with clients via phone, in-person meetings and email to understand their remodeling needs, preferences, and objectives to pre-qualify the project and begin building your estimate. Ask pertinent questions, and provide expert advice on project feasibility, design options, budget considerations and any changes during the course of the project.
Project Planning - Work with the designer to translate client requirements into detailed project plans. Ensure that all aspects of the remodeling project are thoroughly assessed and adequately addressed, including materials, labor, permits, and any unique challenges.
Code Compliance - Stay updated with building codes, regulations, and zoning requirements to ensure all projects comply with local laws and safety standards.
Cost Estimation → Project Development → Sale - Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for remodeling projects; factoring in all relevant expenses, labor costs, material pricing, subcontractor fees, and potential contingencies. Create a personalized and detailed construction contract outlining the scope of work, cost breakdown, and any other essential project-specific details for presentation to clients that will result in a sale.
Team Collaboration - Work closely with Lead Carpenters, Designers, Subcontractors, and other team members on a cursory level to ensure smooth project execution and address any challenges or changes that may arise and need your attention. Be aware of project costs throughout the lifecycle of each project and work with the Production Team to communicate to the client any major unforeseen budget changes. Also takes part in monthly management team meetings to review current company financials, current business development, upcoming events and any other company issues. Be willing to attend local networking events to represent JER.
Documentation – Work with Administration Team to maintain accurate electronic and physical records of project details, communications, contracts, and any changes and cost overruns made during the course of the remodeling project.
Hours: This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with an occasional shift at our two major community events that take place on a weekend.
Compensation: Position is salary base of $50,000/year plus sales commissions and quarterly production bonuses on qualifying profitable jobs. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Holiday Pay and SIMPLE IRA matching program.
