The Education Media Production Specialist helps Pierce College meet its mission by applying inclusive learning practices and Universal Design for Learning principles while developing educational resources. The Media Production Specialist coordinates and develops instructional and training multimedia emphasizing video and audio production. This position consults with instructional designers, students, faculty, and other staff to create multimedia content for instructional and training purposes. This position reports to the Director of Open Education and Development Resources.
This position is eligible for two (2) days of telework per week. This position reports to the Director of Open Education and Development Resources and requires regular and consistent attendance.

Essential Functions:
Media Consultation and Development
Develops instructional and training web and media-based interactive learning (tutorials, demos, infographics, modules, interactive quizzes, video), working with a wide range of multimedia software including audio, video, web, animation, and photo.
Designs, directs, films, edits, and produces multimedia projects with the cooperation of colleagues, students, staff, faculty, and community members.
In conjunction with instructional designers and other team members, provides faculty consultation regarding equitable and inclusive multimedia integration into face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
Supports course development projects and content production in online learning management systems and applications.
Planning and Organization
Coordinates with the Director of Open Education and Development Resources to prioritize educational multimedia projects that can meet the institution's multiple and/or long-term needs.
Plans, organizes, coordinates, budgets, and administers video production services; develops, recommends, and coordinates procedures, plans, and programs for application of existing and new audiovisual technology.
Uses a variety of project management tools (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Planner, and others) to communicate with project stakeholders and track progress on projects.
Takes part in developing educational content by advising on production requirements, timelines, and capabilities.
Technical Media Support
Provides functional and technical troubleshooting and operational support of multimedia projects.
Creates, updates, prioritizes, and tracks faculty and staff requests regarding integration of multimedia projects in classes.
Maintains the ELAD multimedia production equipment and advises on equipment needed for optimal digital design functions at Pierce College.
Training and Development
Monitors developments in the multimedia field and advises the Employee Learning and Development (ELAD) team on new opportunities.
Researches, evaluates, and recommends appropriate emerging and innovative practices and technologies in multimedia for learning and teaching.
Consults with ELAD colleagues on ideas for professional development and learning about educational media production and equitable/inclusive multimedia design.
Offers professional learning sessions for the college community about media production and design especially in relation to inclusive practices.
Required Education:
Associates degree in a related field of study OR equivalent years of experience working in audio/visual creation including design, directing, editing, and production. For an associate's degree, the equivalent work experience is two (2) years.
Required Experience:
One year of experience in digital media production including:
Nonlinear video editors (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, etc).
Use of audio and video equipment (such as video cameras, still cameras, microphones, and mixing sound boards).
Use of image editing software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or Aperture.
Experience creating electronic video and multimedia content for a variety of audiences.
Experience implementing and designing audio/visual content for the web, including web accessibility.
Special Requirements:

Knowledge about inclusive practices in design of multimedia and educational resources or knowledge of Universal Design for Learning principles.
Knowledge about open education resources and openly licensed content, particularly Creative Commons.
Knowledge of video content management and delivery tools such as Panopto, YouTube.
Knowledge of storytelling as a method for learning and teaching.
Interpersonal Skills
Very strong verbal, written, listening, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and positively with individuals of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, and historical backgrounds.
Strong collaborative skills, including the ability to work with co-workers, faculty, alumni, managers, students, or community members.
Job Management
Ability to manage time, priorities, and resources to achieve goals; prioritize tasks by importance and deadlines; adjust priorities as situations change.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or similar office production software.
