The Seattle Artist League is hiring a Saturday studio tech to help keep our ceramics and art studios running smoothly. This part-time position includes studio upkeep, kiln operation, materials preparation, and supporting classes. It’s a hands-on role, ideal for someone with ceramics experience or strong interest in learning. Tech roles can grow into teaching and other responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Open the studio, answer doorbell
Mix and maintain glazes, follow safety protocols
Reclaim and recycle clay
Load, fire, and maintain electric kilns
Maintain kiln furniture, damp room, and firing shelves
Discard unclaimed pieces after 30 days
Keep ceramics and shared studios clean and organized
Assist instructors with class prep and tasks
Answer student questions and offer ceramics advice
Perform occasional maintenance in drawing/painting studios and entry areas
Other reasonable duties as assigned
Qualifications
1+ year experience in ceramics studio work required
Familiarity with ceramic processes, glaze mixing, and kiln firing
Ability to lift 35 lbs and move safely through an active studio
Reliable, organized, and self-directed
Schedule: Saturdays (required)
Optional sub shifts on other days as available
Location: In-person, Georgetown (Seattle)
