We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Motor Winder to join our IBEW/Union client team. This role includes inspection, rewinding, and repair of AC/DC motors, generators, and rotating equipment. Pay is $47.00/hr or current IBEW rate at time of hire.
This position requires strong technical skills, safety compliance, and the ability to follow EASA standards.
Key Responsibilities
Disassemble electric motors and rotating equipment; perform visual inspections and electrical tests (surge, hi-pot, meg-ohm).
Record nameplate and winding data (coil type, wire size, turns, connections).
Strip and clean components using burnout ovens, hand tools, and approved methods.
Rewind and insulate coils (random-wound and form coil) per specifications.
Form and connect coil leads; perform brazing and soldering.
Conduct in-process and final electrical tests per EASA AR100 standards.
Reassemble units, install new bearings, prepare for final testing and shipment.
Follow all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
3–5 years hands-on motor winding experience.
Completion of a certified Motor Winder apprenticeship preferred.
Proficient with AC/DC motor winding, schematics, and connection diagrams.
Skilled with electrical test equipment (multimeters, surge testers, core-loss testers).
Able to use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges).
Brazing, soldering, or TIG welding experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail; able to work independently and in a team.
Valid driver’s license required.
