The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical contracting business. This position involves a diverse range of responsibilities, from managing office logistics to providing technical support and coordinating with various departments. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking effectively.
Responsibilities:
Purchasing and Inventory Management:
Procure materials for warehouse stock and specific job orders.
Prepare materials packages for jobs and work orders.
Maintain accurate inventory records.
Coordinate with suppliers and negotiate pricing.
Technical Assistance:
Provide technical support to field personnel (electricians, technicians, etc.).
Troubleshoot technical issues and offer solutions.
Electrical Code Interpretation:
Stay updated on electrical codes and regulations.
Interpret code requirements for projects.
Electrical Plan Review:
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to evaluate electrical plans.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Safety Management:
Implement safety protocols and guidelines.
Conduct safety training sessions.
Monitor safety compliance across the organization.
Human Resources and Union Coordination:
Assist with HR functions (recruitment, on boarding, employee relations).
Coordinate with union representatives as needed.
Backup Support:
Step in for the Service Manager and Project Estimators when necessary.
Handle urgent tasks and manage priorities.
Counter Sales:
Assist walk-in customers at the counter.
Process sales transactions and provide product information.
Qualifications:
Experience in office management, preferably in the construction or electrical industry.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of electrical codes and terminology.
