Sutter Home and Hearth is looking for an experienced install and service technician who aspires to quickly work into a lead role. This person will be responsible for the successful installation and service of fireplaces, stoves, fire pits, and BBQs in both rough in and finish project stages. About Us: Founded in 1979, Sutter Home and Hearth is an established local company that serves a variety of clients (homeowners, builders, architects etc.) at homes and job sites across the region. Our installation teams are supported by full time estimators and administrative staff to ensure projects are well-vetted and prepared prior to starting work.
Sutter Home and Hearth will provide job training for gas plumbing and specialty product installation, tools, and a workday vehicle. The right candidate will possess the ability to perform in a workmanlike fashion both efficiently and safely, with high regard to fit and finish. Finally, they will possess a collaborative attitude and a customer satisfaction focused mindset.
Full-Time Position: Monday – Friday, no on-call shifts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Installation, servicing, troubleshooting and removal of Hearth and Outdoor Products – we will train the right candidate on the specifics of our industry and products!
- Work independently and as a team, and work through product/service challenges with manufacturer support
- Read and follow product manuals, plans, and schematics
- Provide a professional, courteous, and positive atmosphere for customers in their homes
- Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of job documents, write job reports, and return documents at end of day daily
- Provide pictures and project status updates to administrative team; schedule inspections
- Operate an organized, clean, and hazard-free work environment
- Fulfill daily operational duties and assists with operational efficiency initiatives
- Perform regular inventory and supply documentation
- Train customers on proper product operation and care and answer questions, educate customers on Washington State rules and regulations related to their new installations
- Other installation, operations, warehouse facilities duties as assigned
Compensation & Benefits include:
- Hourly Wage $28 - $38, DOE; overtime

The right candidate should be / have the following:
- 4+ years’ experience of mechanical/complex product installation (HVAC, gas fireplace, or similar products) into new construction rough in, remodel, and finished home stage projects
- 4+ years’ experience with hand and power tools in both finish and rough in stage projects
- Experience reading and following plans, schematics, and product manuals
- Experience working with customers and end users with a high level of customer service
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including job report writing
- High attention to detail and care
- A safety first mindset while completing project efficiently and effectively
- Collaborative attitude with Estimators and Project Manager to ensure best results
- Dependable and punctual
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely
- Ability to work from ladders and on roofs
- Ability to walk up and down steps repeatedly, kneel, bend, and squat
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Valid driver license with clean driving record
- High School diploma or equivalent
The following skills/experience would make you an even stronger candidate:
- Fireplace or Hearth Industry related experience with strong references
- Experience leading and training others
- Ability to provide customers with recommendations and upsell while you are performing work at a customer’s home
