DESCRIPTION

Job summary
The AWS Developer Relations team is on a mission to help millions of current and future AWS users discover, learn, and succeed with AWS. Our team works with AWS users and the AWS community to drive adoption of AWS solutions and internally with Service Teams to build better products and features. We need a talented and passionate Full-Stack to help us build tools and infrastructure that scale our capabilities.

As a Software Engineer on the AWS Developer Relations team, you will work with internal partners and stakeholders to understand, design, and implement new features to meet our dynamic business requirements. Some of these applications will serve AWS customers at scale and require the highest bar in usability, performance, security, reliability, and scalability. You will also work closely with a team of talented Advocates, training and leading them to help improve the tools and services you build. Finally, you will have opportunities (not obligations) to speak at conferences, lead workshops, and a variety of other AWS customer-facing activities.

You have a growth mindset, insatiable curiosity, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results without supervision. You bring a blend of strong technical skills and big-picture-thinking to design and build applications that users love. You can wear multiple hats to identify and build solutions that streamline and transform the capabilities of the Developer Relations organization through automation.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Building customer-facing applications, tools, and platforms that streamline and scale the Developer Relations team.
  • Partnering with members of the Developer Relations team to build automation and tools for internal partners and stakeholders.
  • Participating in all stages of the development life-cycle, spanning design, development, testing, and operation.
  • Iterating on product features based on user feedback.
  • Building and operating entire applications end-to-end, across UI, API, Database, and Infrastructure.
  • Helping the Developer Relations team review and improve technical content quality and depth.
  • Participating in design and security reviews for team members to help improve the quality of all our services.
  • Generating new ideas for improving operational capabilities of the Developer Relations team.

Inclusive Team Culture
Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon's culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.

Work/Life Balance
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn't about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it's about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice.

Mentorship & Career Growth
Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
