BYK Construction, Inc. is a growing company in need of a Lead Carpenter/Foreman to join our staff. This position will support the PM/Superintendent and project team.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Able to read blueprints and knowledgeable of construction methods and practices
Able to perform work and finish tasks with limited supervision
Possess a wide range of carpentry skills including layout, rough framing, weatherproofing, siding, trim, flooring, cabinets, finish carpentry, drywall patching, installing doors, windows, and be able to layout stairs and railings, if needed.
Understand submittals, specifications and plans and be able to perform material take-offs when needed.
Great communication skills, updating your supervisor at the end of each day
Ability to prioritize tasks based on time and multiple projects going at once
Direct laborer(s) to perform tasks as needed
Minor concrete work/forms when needed
Be able to lift, stand, bend, stoop or kneel for long periods of time
Be able to lift at least 100 lbs repeatedly when necessary
Operate telescoping forklift, assisting subcontractors with material needs
Create punch lists and monitor their completion
Assist the Superintendent, PE and PM with project close-out documentation
Assist the Superintendent and PM with safety documentation, site safety monitoring and document weekly safety walks
Conduct weekly Safety Meetings
Daily Reports and monitoring of subcontractors
Requirements/Qualifications:
5 years construction experience, some commercial construction experience preferred but not required.
High School Diploma/GED
Follow safety protocols and hold subcontractors to BYKs safety standards on site at all times.
Able to conduct simple word processing, e-mails, and Excel spreadsheets
Must have your own tool bags and basic hand carpentry tools.
Certified to operate telescoping forklift, or the ability to achieve a certificate
Have a great attitude and be a team player!
