Job Summary

We are a top-rated CPA firm in Spokane, just starting to grow, seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. This position requires the candidate to be located in the Spokane, WA area, with the flexibility to work remotely some/most of the time.

In this role, you will play an essential part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing client bookkeeping functions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will work closely with a major client using QuickBooks Desktop via remote access, as well as various other clients through QuickBooks Online. This position offers significant growth potential for the right candidate, with opportunities to take on expanded responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities

Perform data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions.

Manage Accounts Payable for a major client.

Work in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, depending on client needs.

Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Prepare journal entries, account analysis, and support month-end and year-end close processes.

Conduct reconciliation procedures for A/P, A/R, and bank accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.

Assist with governmental and non-profit accounting requirements as needed.

Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting, tax preparation, and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Proven experience with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.

Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals: debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account analysis, etc.

Solid accounts payable experience.

Familiarity with payroll systems and processes.

High-accuracy data entry skills (10-key preferred).

Ability to perform balance sheet and account reconciliations efficiently.

Strong analytical skills and understanding of financial services concepts.

Clear and effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent in work experience.
