Job Summary:

Eastern Washington University is currently seeking a Snack Bar Lead , which is a food service production person similar to a sous chef. This position helps direct the operation of a campus restaurant. The individual will participate in all aspects of production and service of food, setup, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of a kitchen and dining areas, and ensure good quality customer service. They will assist in training new staff to Dining Services standards of excellence. They must ensure the opening and/or closing duties/checklists are completed in a timely fashion. This individual will report directly to a Dining Services Supervisor and/or a Lead Production Chef with reporting responsibilities to a Dining Services Manager. Required Qualifications:

Valid Washington Drivers license Valid Washington Food Handlers Permit High School Diploma or GED One year of experience in restaurant food service work or equivalent education. Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Culinary Arts degree or related degree in the food service field 2 years of college or university high volume food service experience. 1 year of kitchen supervisory experience.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Able to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and accomplish goals. Time management skills Must have good communication and supervisory skills. Must have good knife skills.

Job Duties:

% of Time: 40 Responsibility / Duty: Directs and participates in food service preparation and service, dish washing, sanitation, and other cleaning functions. Essential Function Indicator: Yes % of Time: 20 Responsibility / Duty: Leads student employees and other food service workers in the day-to-day operation of the food service location and, as needed, in other dining locations such as another kitchen, an espresso stand, or concession stand. Essential Function Indicator: Yes % of Time: 15 Responsibility / Duty: Directs and participates in the cleaning and maintenance of food service equipment and work areas; maintains compliance with all sanitation and safety regulations. Essential Function Indicator: Yes % of Time: 10 Responsibility / Duty: Maintains proper record keeping including work schedules, orders, requisitions, recipes, and production sheets. Essential Function Indicator: Yes % of Time: 10 Responsibility / Duty: Receives cash payments and charge slips from customers. Account for receipts through POS systems and credit card machines, and make deposits at the beginning and end of the work shifts. Conditions of Employment:

Successful applicants must be able to comply with EWU Dining Services franchise restaurants personal hygiene and uniform policies. This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment. All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs. Salary Information: The salary for this position is $37,656 (minimum) up to $47,532. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.
