Environmental Health Technician, Whitman County Public Health Department. Description: The primary function of the Environmental Health Technician (EHT) is the application and enforcement of Whitman County’s environmental and public health regulations under the direction of the Environmental Health Director. The majority of the work will be in our food program. The EHT must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with Environmental Health and Public Health supervisors and support staff, both verbally and in written reports. Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned by the EHT’s supervisor(s). Requirements: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited 4 year university is preferred. Understanding of basic environmental health principles and practices is preferred. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license is required. Must have a safe driving record and be able to travel to job sites within the county. STARTING SALARY: $3,465/month.
