Fitter/Welder
REM®is looking for a skilled Fitter/Welder to join our fabrication team.
As a Fitter/Welder you will be responsible for fitting and manufacturing welded assemblies per drafted blueprints. Maintaining an orderly workstation, contributing process improvement and safety suggestions, and assisting in other areas of production as required are also part of the position’s responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting directly to Production Superintendent, or department lead.
Actively participates in employee safety and safety program
Assemble and tack-weld steel frames and other component parts of machinery and equipment in preparation for final welding.
Measure and mark locations for metal components per blueprints.
Lift and position components using an electric crane, jacks, and shims as required to safely perform work.
Verify the position of metal components in assembly, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and rule.
Clamp metal components to assembly table for welding.
Remove rough spots from components, using a portable powered grinder, to fit and assemble parts.
Use arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment as required.
Constructively contribute to departmental and team programs and goals
Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma or GED
2+ years’ Fitter/Welder experience
Mechanical aptitude
Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols
Ability to safely meet deadlines with quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
