Location: Spokane Washington (In office and in the Spokane community)
Type: Part-time; Hourly/Non-Exempt
Compensation: $17.68 - $24.76 per hour.(We are targeting $21.80 per hour for this role. Skils’kin/Skookum's compensation strategy is to position new employees between the minimum and midpoint of this range, depending on qualifications and experience.) + vehicle allowance.
Work Schedule: 20-29 hours per week; primarily weekdays, may vary depending on client work assignments (flexible start and end times depending on scheduling needs).

As a Skills Trainer you will provide on the job training or pre-employment coaching to your clients, promote your individual’s development of work skills, identify mentors and natural supports within the environment to enhance independence in the integrated labor market, while representing Skils’kin in a professional and mission focused manner. As applicable, you may provide job search supports. You get to invest time with the clients on your caseload and connect with your co-workers as you train routine tasks with job aids that you occasionally create. At times the role can be fast-paced as you travel to clients throughout your day. These are the times when your accuracy and friendliness will shine, and our job seekers will gain confidence in their position.
Provide one on one support and coaching to individuals working in the community or preparing for work in the community.
Actively participate as a member of an individual client’s support team as assigned.
Assist in the development and monitoring of an accurate task analysis system for community work requirements of positions filled by individuals with disabilities.
Provide retention services to individuals working in the community to ensure their success.
Assist individuals with adhering to their schedule.
Provide job search services to assist individuals in securing competitive jobs in the community.
Act as liaison between individuals and their home sites.
Assure a safe and healthy work environment for the individual.
Develop and maintain an active network of resources for job accommodations.
Collaborate with employers to assess accommodations for the workplace, and identify retention services.
Create imaginative job aids, identify assistive technology (such as iPads) and tools to help client succeed.
Provide technical assistance for accommodations and/or adaptive equipment as needed.
Assist in development of client’s work skills; assess potential obstacles to employment, and develop strategies to overcome them; provide on-the-job or pre-employment training.
Maintain documentation for each individual for which services are provided; document services performed at the specified rate of the available monthly work hours. (billable and non-billable).
Follow department protocols for case notes, documentation, monthly outcomes and performance goals.
Perform duties in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations and guidelines governing equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination in the workplace.
Ensure all services and billing conform to Spokane County and DDA/DVR contract requirements.
Report suspicions of abuse, neglect, exploitation or serious incidents per Skils’kin/Skookum and County/State policies and procedures.
Complete incident, accident and seizure reports as needed.
Maintain positive and effective communication and feedback through daily follow up through email, phone with team members on assignment outcome and time served.
Actively utilize TripLog during working schedule.
Participate in on-going staff development
Attend all scheduled meetings.
Assist in resolving issues, barriers and concerns.
Accept and implement special projects as assigned by supervisor.
Fill in for other Employment Advisor or Skills Trainer staff as needed.
Serve on call as assigned.
Potential travel to other Skookum sites.

Summary of Skills and Experience for the Skills Trainer:
High School diploma or GED required.
Associates degree or Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in Social Services or related field preferred, but not required.
0-3 Years of previous experience in a related role preferred, but not required.
Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
Experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
Highly sought certifications: ASL, SSA Benefits Planning, experience with DVR, DDA.
Ability to use Microsoft Office and other computer software programs.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with others in a courteous, professional, and helpful way.
Knowledge of community resources to assist clients in overcoming barriers to employment.
A valid state Driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skils'kin’s insurance.
Must have reliable, personal transportation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances for installation access if assigned.
A pre-employment background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position. Must be able to pass Social Security and Washington State DSHS background checks.
Must obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
