DESCRIPTION:
The Food Hub Sales Director will drive revenue for LINC Foods, directly supporting community-focused farms, sustainable agriculture, and local economic development in the Inland Northwest.
The Food Hub Sales Director will manage sales for the wholesale market channel of LINC’s Food Enterprise, which includes servicing institutions, school districts, restaurants, and grocery stores. As part of this vital food hub role, the Food Hub Sales Director will cultivate long-term, value-based relationships with customers.
The Food Hub Sales Director will report to the LINC Foods General Manager and work closely with the Operations Coordinator to execute seamless fulfillment.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The position will generate revenue for LINC and its producers by managing the sales activities for LINC Foods wholesale orders.
The core responsibilities of the Food Hub Sales Director include:
Wholesale Customer Recruitment
-Actively engaging local chefs and businesses as wholesale customers
-Securing recurring orders for route reliability
-Participating in focused wholesale growth strategy development
Wholesale Customer Service
-Completing customer outreach (in-person sales calls, weekly phone calls, and emails) to receive orders and generate sales
-Representing local farms and their products to customers by maintaining a knowledge base of the evolving products offered by LINC Foods
-Proactively preventing and resolving issues with customers
-Training customers to effectively use our software platform
-Navigating our software platform to place orders, update information, and resolve issues for customers
-Working in collaboration with the Procurement team to secure sales commitments for producers
Order Communication
-Coordinating accurate order fulfillment with the LINC Operations Team
-Reporting weekly sales to the LINC Circle Leads and Finance Director
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of sales/territory experience required with tangible, highly competitive skills in the marketplace. Prior food distribution or closely related experience strongly preferred.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance
COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate and inspire customers while realistically articulating local food limitations
- Computer proficiency including the ability to navigate sales softwares and Google Suite
- Ability to track and execute projects involving multiple variables
- Ability to understand and calculate margins, markups, prices, weights, etc.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and collaborate with remote team members
- Ability to travel frequently in a personal vehicle (distances up to 250 miles), walk or stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to adapt to challenges in real-time and problem-solve with teammates, suppliers, and/or customers
- Interest in food systems and sustainability
DETAILS:
- Hours will vary but take place between 7am and 7pm Mon-Fri
- Hours will take place at our warehouse in Spokane Valley, remotely, and on sales calls throughout eastern WA.
