The Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Local #33 has five training centers throughout the area it covers. Our training centers offer safety training and skills training. It is our goal to provide individuals with the training they will need to succeed in the sheet metal industry for their entire careers.The training you will receive from SMART Local 33 training centers is free! That's right, FREE. As a matter of fact, SMART Local 33 finds jobs for the individuals in our training programs. Our training programs teach you the skills you need to know to succeed, find work for you while you are in school, and when you finish your training, you will be debt free so long as you continue to work for our partner contractors.The apprenticeship program provides on-the-job training consisting of specialized classes for four years. Apprentices also receive credit towards an Associate Degree at no cost. As an apprentice in the unionized skilled trades, you:-Earn a salary that increases as your skills and knowledge increase.
-Receive books and other educational material at little or no cost.
-Learn from instructors who have hands-on experience in the sheet metal industry.
-Apply what you learn right away-your career begins with your apprenticeship.
-Graduate with ZERO student loan debt.Application Requirements
Applicants must be of legal age. (18)
Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade.
Must have received a High School Diploma or GED (proof required).
Must have a valid drivers license.
After submitting your application to Workforce WV and the JATF office has received it, you will be scheduled for an interview by a panel from the JATF.
All applicants must submit a copy of their: birth certificate, copy of a valid driver's license, grade transcript of school courses, grades obtained, diploma or GED, social security card.
Copy of DD 214 if you are a veteran.
