Nicky's Lion's Head in beautiful Downtown West De Pere is looking for an experienced Cook. This can be a part time or close to full time position. Although we would prefer experienced, we are willing to train the right person with limited experience who is highly organized and has a great attitude.
Nicky's has been a fixture and well known establishment in De Pere for 37 years with a reputation for quality casual dining and great drinks in a unique atmosphere. Family owned and operated. The Nick brothers are hands on owners and very supportive of their staff. The right employee will have job security here. This is the type of place where you'll get to know the customers and become friends with them!
This is a day shift opening, however occasional night shifts are required to fill in for special needs. The typical starting time is between 9:30 am and 10 am. Typical finish time anywhere between 2 pm and 4 pm. Occasional night hours vary based on staffing needs however the majority of hours will be day shift. You may go months without a night shift but they can and do happen on occassion.
Nicky's is closed on Sundays except for Packer games and special events such as Saint Norbert College Graduation Weekend. During the Green Bay Area Restaurant Week (8 days in mid-July), it is required that all kitchen employees are available any hours and you will work full time that week. It is critical that you work on St. Patricks Day, we are the area's premier Irish Pub. Christmas Eve is a huge day and you will be required to work, however we close at 6pm. Nicky's is closed most major holidays with exceptions for Packer Games.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, opening of the kitchen, prep work, sharing in preparation of scratch made soups, sanitation of the kitchen, and stocking of deliveries. Nickys is very close to a completely scratch made kitchen. Your most important responsibility will be to quickly and efficiently prepare quality entrees, salads, and sandwiches for Nicky's lunch guests. You will be provided any training you need to accomplish these goals.
There are typically two cooks in the kitchen during serving hours for lunch although you will work on rare occasions independently on slower days. It will happen occasionally where you will work a night shift and be required to close the kitchen, almost always with another cook but occasionally on your own.
The kitchen has cable TV along with a Harmon Kardon Bluetooth Speaker system. You will never miss the game you want to see and always get to listen to great music while you work!
Must be a team player who will work together with other staff to solve problems quickly to ensure customer satisfaction. You must maintain excellent work attendance.
