Machine Shop Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:This position is located in Sparta, Wisconsin. Repairs all CNC machines, lathe and other machines purchased for Machine Shop. Performs preventive maintenance on all machines to preserve warranty on machines.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains all CNC machines, lathes, waterjets, robots and other production related machinery according to established company procedures. Requires problem solvingand troubleshootingskills to repair and maintain machines on a daily basis.Develops and maintains good working relationship with Service Technicians.Works with other maintenance technicians to developand maintainworking knowledge of machine electronics.Works on Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly PM’sMonitors and controls coolant levels and concentrations on a daily basis.Additional Duties and Responsibilities:Assists the operators or set-up people as needed.Other duties may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.Work Relationships and Scope:Reports directly to Manager, Machine Shop. Daily contact with supervisors and other department heads for the purpose of obtaining and providing information. Daily meetings with other department heads and supervisors to discuss machines broken down or any coolant issues that might have come up.Performance Expectations:Quality, quantity, accuracy, and timeliness of work performed; quality of communications and development of good working relationships with others in the company (supervisors, employees, other managers); Honesty and integrity in all customer and coworker communications; customer satisfaction with services provided; maintain and comply with all safety and OSHA regulations; reliability in reporting to work regularly and on time; understand and adhere to Company policy; soundness of business decisions made; maintain the integrity of confidential business information; stay current in field and utilize that information where practical. Demonstrate friendly and helpful approach and attitude toward internal and external customers, professionalism, commitment to the job, and loyalty to the Company.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:High School diploma or equivalent preferred plus additional schooling in CNC repair along with a two year degree in Industrial Mechanics, Electronics or CNC control and operation, along with 2-3 years machining experience is preferred. Must be familiar with PLC’s, ladder logic and robotics. Individual must possess: ability to adapt to change in priorities on a daily basis; good mechanical abilities and manual dexterity; good verbal communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written directions; professional demeanor and appearance; problem-solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; ability to build positive work relationships with coworkers and customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Must be able to perform arithmetic calculations (fractions, decimals, and percentages).Equipment Operated:Operation of CNC Machines. Utilizes air and hand ratchets, band saw, drills, sanders, indicators, calipers, oil remover machine, saws, electronic ohm meter and many other tools;(hammer, wrench, screw drivers, and Alan wrenches.) Also utilizes a PC and computer printer for work processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and Internet access.Working Conditions:Work is performed in a production environment with daily exposure to dirt, noise, chemicals, coolants, cleaning solutions, and equipment hazards. Regular contact with employees for the purpose of questions and solving problems. Deadline pressure is an integral part of the job. Work is primarily performed will standing with some climbing involved. Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds of product and equipment. Frequent mental and visual concentration. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and an average of at least 40 hours, with reasonable expectation of overtime. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through verbal and written communication.
